NEWSLETTER  --  March 2002

The Annual Meeting of the PORT LARGO RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY OWNER’S ASSOCIATION was held February 9, 2002 at the Key Largo Civic Club.

Marshall Walker expressed thanks to all the board members and to all of our committee members for their dedication and for serving their community so well during 2001!

Our guest speakers were: Glenn Patton, standing in for Murray Nelson, County Commissioner for District 5,  who was recovering from hip replacement surgery.  Glenn Patton discussed FEMA and downstairs enclosures; the wastewater issue and election of a local sewer board.  He requested homeowners to give Commissioner Nelson feedback as to what we would like to accomplish for our community with Infrastructure Funds, such as pave our roads or build a community center.  John Wood, PLRPOA Vice President requested volunteers to help with our Homeowners Park.  He reviewed the problems and resolutions at our Homeowners Park during the past year and reviewed our new park rules.  He explained the new card swipe system and entry gate operation.  He advised the new park hours will be (spring) beginning in April:  6AM - 8:30 PM and (fall) beginning in October:  7AM - 6:30 PM.  He also stressed the importance of members calling a board member with questions or problems.  J. Hershoff, on behalf of Stu Marr, spoke about an ongoing problem with fishermen in our park damaging his boat.  Sue Cunningham awarded prizes for our Third Annual “Let’s Decorate the Neighborhood” Contest during the Christmas holidays!  Marshall Walker expressed our special appreciation to Sue, Holly Trejo and Lynne Marr for the great job they did continuing this joyful Holiday tradition!
