PLRPOA Board Meeting Minutes - April 4, 2002 |
The board meeting of Port Largo Residential Property Owner’s Association was held at the home of Frances Simmons. Present were board members: Frances Simmons, Mary Nelson, Glenn Patton, Ann Nickerson, Annette Richard, Pat McLaughlin, and John Trejo.
The meeting was called to order at 7:45 PM by Glenn Patton.
I. Minutes from the last regular monthly meeting held on March 7, 2002 were read by Mary Nelson and approved as corrected.
II. The Treasurer’s report was read by Frances Simmons and was approved as read.
III. FISHING TOURNAMENT John Trejo, as Chairman, reported on the Fishing Tournament to be held April 27. His committee will also consist of Sue Cunningham, Dave Sebastian and Lynn Marr. He discussed the trophies and budget. He also requested we each contact all of our neighbors and that we let everyone know he is matching entrants without boats with entrants who do have boats wherever possible. John also requested Picnic Committee names so he can coordinate with them.
IV. OLD BUSINESS
a. Homeowner’s Picnic Committee: will consist of John Wood, Ann Nickerson, Pat McLaughlin and his wife, Glenn Patton and his wife. Glenn will call Bushwacker’s regarding cleaning up the park and Pat McLaughlin will continue with estimates for work to be done.
b. Swipe Entry Gate Operator Glenn Patton gave a report and showed us the printout from the system. He read a note from Stu Marr in which he requested an entry card for Florida Fish & Wildlife. The board decided we should act on this request only if we receive a direct request from Florida Fish & Wildlife.
c. Fernandez letter Glenn Patton reported on his satisfactory resolution of the gate damage and that we had received a check in full payment. Glenn passed around a letter addressed to our association from Mr. Fernandez’ grandson apologizing for his actions.
d. Rusk AA/NA Facility Since the homeowner who had come to our board for support was not present we decided to table this until she is present. There was a question as to whether this is a commercial operation.
V. NEW BUSINESS
a. FEMA Glenn Patton gave Mary Nelson five copies of PLRPOA’s position on this issue to pass along to Commissioner Nelson. He also read the position of IKLFHA and advised us they may reconsider if the present situation changes. Annette Richard will also look into the Chamber of Commerce putting their position in writing.
b. IKLFHA delegates Annette Richard, Glenn Patton and Ann Nickerson. Ann Nickerson will serve but would prefer to have Fred Nickerson serve if only one of them qualify. Glenn will clarify with The Federation and report back to the board. A motion was made, seconded and passed that these delegates serve with clarification to be made. When this issue is clarified, Mary Nelson will write a letter to the Federation to formally name our delegates.
c. Homeowners Park - repairs Glenn Patton and Pat McLaughlin have not received this information in full and will report back to the board as soon as they complete this estimate.
d. Vacant seat on our board Glenn Patton requested ideas for a prospective new board member. Pat has someone in mind and will report back as soon as possible.
e. FKNMS Glenn Patton reported on the review and suggests we write letters if we are concerned about the effectiveness of work presently being done to preserve our offshore waters.
Our next meeting will be held Thursday, May 2nd at Frances’ house. There being no more business, the meeting adjourned at 9:30 PM.
Respectfully submitted by Mary Nelson, Secretary Approved at the April 8, 2002 meeting
