PLRPOA  Board Meeting Minutes - April 8, 2004

The board meeting of PLRPOA was held at the home of Frances Simmons.  Present were board members:  Glenn Patton, Frances Simmons, Ann Nickerson, Terry Smith, Lucy Doyle and Mary Nelson.

The meeting was called to order at 7:40 PM by Glenn Patton.

  I.   Minutes from the March 4, 2004 meeting were read by Mary Nelson and were approved as corrected.

II.   The Treasurer’s report was read by Frances Simmons and approved as read.

III.   NEW BUSINESS

Tim Cale came tonight to request a fence be erected in front of lots 142,143 and 144 on Marina Avenue. As a neighbor to these lots, he has had reoccurring problems with teenagers involved with alcohol, drugs and sex at 1, 2 and 3AM as well as speeding up to 50mph along Marina. Sgt. Caputo had responded to his calls and has just located a mobile speed warning sign on Marina. After much discussion, it is agreed that boulders would be the most cost effective to prohibit autos from entering these properties. Glenn will advise the cost of this plan at our next meeting.

IV.   PIRHLER – MEMBERSHIP ISSUES

Glenn read the email regarding Gabriele Pirhler’s request to be given a 2004 membership in lieu of not being contacted by our association in response to her payment of 2003 dues.

Motion: A motion was made, seconded and unanimously carried to give Pirhler (377 Bahia Avenue) their 2004 membership at no cost as a goodwill gesture.

V.   FISHING TOURNAMENT REPORT

Glenn advised he had put the sandwich board signs out and Mary Nelson advised Glenn she and Nick had installed the signs on the sandwich boards.

 VI.  PICNIC COMMITTEE - VOLUNTEERS

Glenn Patton spoke with Bill Klokke who volunteered for our Picnic committee. Others on this committee will be Ann Henson and Mary Nelson. Ann Nickerson and Glenn Patton will give us their lists from past years to help us get started.

VII.  MARCH NEWSLETTER

All agreed the newsletter looked great and thanked Glenn for a job well done!

VIII. HOMEOWNER’S PARK

Glenn will see about survey and speak with engineer and Pennekamp.  The annual beach refurbishing is complete. Because Barbara Brown is not present, the beautification project is being tabled. Glenn Patton will de-activate the gate cards this weekend for those who have not yet paid their dues.

IX.  FEDERATION REPORT

Since Bill Klokke is not here the delegation issue is tabled until our next meeting. Glenn advised anyone interested in the Casino boat issue to attend the Wednesday, April 14 meeting when Fred Nickerson will present a petition. Mayor Nelson is writing to oppose the development in Florida City.

NEW BUSINESS

Glenn read a thank you for our contribution to Jacobs Aquatic Center.

There being no new business our meeting is adjourned at 9:00 PM.  Our next meeting will be held May 6th, 2004 at the home of Frances Simmons.

Respectfully submitted by Mary Nelson, Secretary
