PLRPOA Board Meeting Minutes - March 6, 2003 |
The monthly meeting of the Port Largo Residential Property Owners board of directors meeting was held on Thursday, March 06, 2003, at the home of Frances Simmons. Present were Glenn Patton, Pat McLaughlin, Mike O’Connor, Ann Nickerson, Frances Simmons and Annette Richard. Mary Nelson and Cara Smith. In Mary’s absence, Annette Richard recorded the minutes.
Property owner Stuart Marr was present and asked to address the board regarding a problem he was having. Prior to the meeting being called to order, Mr. Marr told us about the problems of people fishing from the homeowner’s park that were casting their lines and having them land on his new boat. He showed us pictures of some of the damage such as hooks and lures caught in mooring lines and rails and large pieces of gel coat that were chipped off by fishing weights hitting the boat. Glenn Patton told him that the board would discuss some possible remedies and let him know what would be done.
After Mr. Marr left, the meeting was called to order at 7:47pm. The minutes of the 2/5/03 meeting were read by Glenn Patton and approved. The Treasurer’s report was given by Frances Simmons and approved.
Election of the 2003 officers took place and it was unanimously agreed that Glenn Patton would serve another term as president, Ann Nickerson would repeat her term as vice president, Mary Nelson (pending her approval) would once again be the secretary and Frances Simmons said she will be treasurer for just one more year.
The park rules changes cannot go into effect until the lighting is taken care of. Glenn is getting estimates for this.
There will be a St. Patrick’s Day party on Sunday, 3/16/03 at 5:30pm at the homeowner’s park. The board approved the association providing the beer, drinks and ice.
There was a discussion of the requested change in the hours of lighting at the county park based on the homeowner’s survey taken at the annual meeting. Glenn will review the survey results and get us definitive results of the count.
The content of the March newsletter was discussed. Among other things, it will contain information on the fishing tournament, the results of the board officers election and another homeowner survey form.
Glenn brought up his dissatisfaction with the mangrove trimming. He spoke with property owner David Boyd (who is affiliated with the park service) who suggested we check with Monroe County for a list of other trimmers who may serve us better.
The improvements to the gate at the homeowner’s park have been completed. Glenn will check the operation of the gate so as to approve the payment of the bill.
Regarding Stu Marr’s problems, first mentioned at the beginning of this report, it was suggested that we ask the advice of an attorney to determine if the homeowner’s association has any liability for damage done to his property. It was also agreed that we would make an effort to show good faith in rectifying the situation. One measure that will be taken is an article in the newsletter asking everyone to be cautious and courteous when fishing in the park.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:50pm.
Respectfully submitted in Mary Nelson’s absence,
Annette Richard
