PLRPOA  Board Meeting Minutes - Mar 4, 2004

The board meeting of PLRPOA was held at the home of Frances Simmons.  Present were board members:  Glenn Patton, Frances Simmons, Ann Nickerson, Terry Smith, Lucy Doyle, Ann Henson, Bill Klokke and Mary Nelson.

The meeting was called to order at 7:45 PM by Glenn Patton.

  I.   Minutes from the February 10, 2004 meeting were read by Mary Nelson and were approved as read.

 II.   The Treasurer’s report was read by Frances Simmons and approved as read.

III.   ELECTION OF OFFICERS

      Election of the following officers was unanimous:

IV.   TOURNAMENT FORMAT

Youth have not responded; we will utilize adult mentors as committee chairmen and encourage youth to participate. Hopefully, with some involvement this year, our youth may be comfortable with more responsibility next year.

V.   MARCH NEWSLETTER

Mary Nelson will submit a recap of Mayor Nelson’s talk at our annual meeting. Glenn will include articles regarding YMCA programming at the community park as well as a Fishing Tournament article with registration form along with rules and regulations. Mike O’Connor will submit an article on the quality of life in Port Largo.

 VI.  HOMEOWNERS PARK

     Glenn Patton spoke with Johnny DeBrule; Upper Keys Marine construction regarding our dock project. We need a survey. Safety is an important issue in regarding to getting our permit. Bill Klokke will see if he can get a bay bottom deed or submerged land deed.

We need cleats on our dock and the mangroves need to be trimmed (we agreed not to use the same contractor who last trimmed).

A MOTION to approve $300 for dock improvements was unanimously approved.

Bill Klokke and Glenn Patton will each get an estimate and engage a contractor for this work. Beautification is tabled as Barbara Brown is not present. Mary Nelson will give Glenn the name of a Certified Arborist who can trim mangroves. Glenn will coordinate with Frances regarding deactivating gate cards of members who have not renewed their membership. 

VII.  FEDERATION REPORT  

     Glenn reported that the delegates for last year were Glenn Patton, Annette Richard, Fred Nickerson (member at large) with Ann Nickerson as an alternate. This issue is tabled until next meeting to give anyone interested in serving an opportunity to attend the next Federation meeting on Thursday, March 11th at the Civic Club so they may be better able to decide. Glenn announced the US Army Corps of Engineers public meeting on March 10th at the Westin and encouraged all to attend. He also suggested we read Ann Henson’s report in tomorrows Reporter.

There being no new business our meeting is adjourned at 9:15 PM.  Our next meeting will be held April 1st, 2004.at the home of Frances Simmons.
