The meeting was called to order at 7:35 PM by Glenn Patton.
I. Minutes from the September meeting were read by Mary Nelson and were approved as read.
II. The Treasurer’s report was read by Frances Simmons and approved as read.
III. HOMEOWNERS PARK
Status of repairs Glenn reports that after being ill for some time, Rick Bilberry has now almost completed repairs, including the inside card reader. Glenn will prepare and present a plan at our annual meeting for the side boards of the boat dock with four additional pilings for general membership approval. The bid from Johnny Debrule will also be presented at that time.
IV. BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE
Glenn Patton read an email from Barbara Brown who is out of town taking care of her ill mother. She would like to address trimming out the under canopy of the median strip trees on Atlantic for a cost of $500 - $700. She would also like to fill the median with ground cover in January. The board agrees this would be a good plan. She will call when she returns.
V. FISHING TOURNAMENT FORMAT
Glenn has received a lot of positive feedback about the youth management format. He will discuss this further with John Trejo to determine if some material could be presented by the youth committee at our annual meeting in February 2004.
VI. CRIME WATCH
Thefts We discussed recent thefts which seem to be down. All agree a more active Crime Watch program would be beneficial to Port Largo. Board members all agreed to speak with other members about improving communication within our neighborhood.
VII. FEDERATION REPORT Glenn reported regarding the stretch and the bridge over Jewfish Creek. He also advised that documents are on the IKLFHA website for those who wish to become better informed on this issue.
VIII. NEW BUSINES
a. Frances Simmons presented a real estate property tax bill for $686.12, down from $738.77 last year.
b. The board discussed ideas for increasing membership. We will follow up next month.
c. Glenn mentioned the possibility of creating a “no fishing” zone in our homeowners park, across from Stu Marr’s boat. The topic was tabled until our next meeting.
Our meeting was adjourned at 8:31 PM.
Our next meeting will be held at 7:30 PM on Thursday, December 4th at the home of Frances Simmons.
Respectfully submitted by Mary Nelson, Secretary
