The board meeting of Port Largo Residential Property Owner’s Association was held at the home of Frances Simmons. Present were board members: Glenn Patton, Frances Simmons, Annette Richard, Barbara Brown, Pat McLaughlin and Mary Nelson.
Because we have no quorum, the unofficial meeting was called to order at 8:05 PM by Glenn Patton.
I. Minutes from the May and June meetings were read by Mary Nelson and were approved as corrected.
II. The Treasurer’s report was read by Frances Simmons and approved as read. Frances also passed the property tax bill she just received around which shows a slightly lower property tax.
III. BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE
a. Nomination Barbara Brown was nominated by Mary Nelson as our new Beautification Committee Chairman, Annette Richard seconded and our vote was unanimous for approval. We all agreed her responsibilities include the homeowners’ park and the mediam strip along Atlantic Avenue.
IV. HOMEOWNERS’ PARK
a. Entry gate Glenn Patton has called for service and expects work on the gate operator to be completed within 7 – 10 days.
b. Boat ramp Al Herum had suggested additional pilings be added to our dock which would cost (4 x $800) an additional $3,200.
Glenn would like to add side boards to prevent boats from going under the dock and will do drawings and present options at our next meeting along with cost estimates.
MOTION: Glenn Patton made a motion to spend $100+- to add boards to the side of our existing dock. Mary Nelson seconded, the motion was unanimously approved.
V. CRIME WATCH
a. Boat Thefts We discussed a recent email from the police department advising of a number of recent boat thefts in Port Largo and agreed a more active Crime Watch program would be beneficial and board members all agreed to speak with other members about better communication with our neighbors.
VI. FISHING TOURNAMENT Glenn spoke with John Trejo and Al Herum and asks for feedback on his idea to create a plan to have our tournament run by community youths. They would be supervised by adults who have had experience with the tournament and could receive scholarships from our profits in appreciation of their efforts. The board expressed interest. Glenn will develop his idea and send an email for our approval.
VII. COMMUNITY MEETINGS Mary Nelson passed out flyers for a Garage Sale to be held October 25 by the Port Largo Ladies Luncheon Group which will benefit Just4Kids. She asked for donated items as well as volunteers to help with the sale. Glenn announced a meeting at 7PM on September 10 hosted by the Federation at the Civic Club.
